Kenneth Adrian Maxwell, 39, of Johnnycake near Iaeger, WV, gained his wings Wednesday night, September 12, 2018, surrounded by his loving family, at Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton, WV.
Kenneth was born April 11, 1979, in Princeton, a son of Barbara Roberts Maxwell and the late Kenny Maxwell. Kenneth graduated from Iaeger High School with honors in 1997. While at Iaeger High School Kenneth was the first wrestler to go upstate his Freshman year. He was 3rd place State Wrestler his Junior year; fastest pin at Regionals his Senior year; most pins his Senior year and best Sportsmanship his Senior year. He also went upstate all four years of high school. Kenneth graduated from WVU in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Forest Resource Management. He then became a wrestling coach for Iaeger High School for one year before starting to work for the D.E.P. in the Welch and Logan offices. Kenneth loved pit bulls, his last dog was Nemesis; he enjoyed music, his favorite songs were Sitting on the Dock of the Bay and Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.
In addition to his father Kenny Maxwell, Kenneth was preceded in death by his older brother, “Shea Bug”; paternal grandparents, Dave and Minnie Maxwell; maternal grandparents, Halsey and Marie Roberts; uncles, Billy Roberts, Jerry Maxwell, Buck Cline, Tommy Chaney, Charles Lively and Kenny Hamilton; two cousins, Racheal Chaney and Joseph Terry; and a special friend, Dustin Collins.
Those left to cherish his memory are his four year old son, Kenneth Shea Maxwell of Johnnycake; his mother, Barbara Maxwell of Johnnycake; one brother Josh Maxwell of Johnnycake; one sister Menella Lynn Maxwell of Princeton; special aunt, Carmellia Roberts of Johnnycake; aunts and uncles, Betty and Neil Tucker of Sarasota FL, Verna Roberts of Coon Branch, Halsey Jr. and Alice Roberts of Harmony NC, Kathy Hamilton and companion Tom Hayes of Fairlea, Pam Baumgardner and companion James Lavender of Milton, WV, Jackie and Shannon Roberts of Princeton, Carla and Gary Terry of Rural Retreat VA, and Brenda Cline of Peterstown; nephew Brandon Muncy and niece Cierra Mowdy both of Princeton; special friends, Adrian Wiles, Brandon Baylock, Charlie Keaton, McKinley Addair, Justin Shaffer, and Skeeter Warrix; and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 21, 2018, at 1 o’clock with Elder Roger Walker and Elder Edward Cline officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in the Roberts Cemetery at Cub Creek near Panther, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be Neil Tucker, Halsey Roberts, Jr., Tom Hayes, Jr., James Lavender, Gary Terry, Josh Maxwell, Eric Johnson, Jessie Roberts, Adrian Wiles and Charlie Keaton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Lively, Michael Chaney, Justin Baumgardner, Mike Smith, Larry Dotson, Leo Steele, McKinley Addair, Justin Shaffer, Doug Dawson, Shane Blankenship, Timmy Blankenship and Dustin Blankenship.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday evening, September 20, 2018 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger.
