George W. Martin 68, of Turnbull Road Delanson passed away peacefully Monday September 17th at his home.
Mr. Martin was born February 15, 1950 in Margaretville, NY a son of Howard and Iva (Hile) Martin, Jr. and later graduated from Roxbury High School. He later received a bachelor's degree from Clark University and a master's degree from SUNY Albany in Computer Science.
He worked for the NYS Comptroller's office in Albany for over 40 years as a computer analyst before retiring but continued working part time.
George also served his country from 1972 to 1976 in the US Air Force as a programming specialist.
He enjoyed road trips to visit family, his daily coffee and his beloved canine companion 'Pepper'.
He is survived by his three beautiful children; Sarah (Dan) Heim and their two children Jasmine and Danica of Elizabethtown, PA, Steven Martin and his lovely girlfriend and Michael Martin and his adorable girlfriend Nicole, his wife Joan (Schermerhorn) Martin whom he married on June 27, 1981, two brothers which he was very close to, Don (Cindy) Martin of Delanson and Stan (Cindy) Martin of Tonawanda, NY along with a few nephews, nieces, one grand nephew and one grand niece.
Calling hours will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, September 20th at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main Street Schoharie where a funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday September 21st. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Quaker Street.
