She married Dale Burgess in 1957 at St. James Church in Albany. He died in 1961.
She married Martin R. Luther, Sr., in 1963 at St. Francis Solanus Church in Harrisville. He died on 2/25/2017.
She worked for New York State in Albany from the time she was 17 until moving to Harrisville in December, 1957.
She and Martin owned and operated the Harrisville Laundromat and B & M Bookkeeping Service in Harrisville for a number of years, until they moved to Watertown in 2002, and to LaFargeville in 2005. While residing in Harrisville, she had also supervised the Harrisville Youth Recreation Program for a number of years.
She was a member of the Harrisville Rod & Gun Club, and was a member and Past President of the former American Legion Post Ladies Auxiliary in Harrisville.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and slot machines. She particularly enjoyed the experience in her younger years, when she and her husband Marty would take in fresh-air children and developmentally challenged teens in the mid 1970’s.
Surviving was her husband; three sons, John “Jack” (Sheryl), Craig (Terri), and Martin Luther, Jr.; a daughter, Laura (Wendell) Cornaire; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Diane Powers.
She was predeceased by a sister, Carole Decent, in 2003.
