William David McCormack was born on August 5, 1881 in Alabama, the son of George William McCormack (1855–1930) and Laura Alice "Lottie" (Bates) McCormack (1860–1947).
He was married to Emma Schust (1885–1907)and had been a machinist at the US Naval Yard in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Living at 913 Central Avenue in Nashville, Tennessee, he was almost 65 years old and a widow when he died of "brochogenic carcinoma" on August 18, 1945 at Nashville General Hospital where he had been for five days. Burial was two days later in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
