A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Helen L. Havens Todd on
Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Heuvelton, NY with Fr. Kevin O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetary immediately after the service. Reception immediately following the graveside service at St. Raphael’s Church Parish Center. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Helen Todd passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 75.

She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, James, her children Stephen Todd and his wife, Pam, of Watertown, Susan Corrice and her husband, Lance, of Oakdale, CT, Kevin Todd of Watertown, Karen Blevins and her husband, Steve, of Adams, and Jennifer Todd of Watertown; her grandchildren, Ryan, Zachary and Alexsandra Blevins, Lilian and Amanda Corrice, and Jack and Abigail Todd; her brothers and sisters, Robert Havens, Sally Havens Bush, Ret. Col. Mary Lou Havens, Catherine (Liz) Havens Carpenter, and Jeremiah (Pete) Havens; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Joseph Havens, Jr.

She was born on March 6, 1943, in Ogdensburg, to Marion and Joseph Havens. She graduated from St. Mary’s School and entered the nursing program at Hepburn Hospital Nursing School. She continued on and received her BS degree in Nursing in 1969 from the University of Pennsylvania. On January 3, 1970, she was married to her true love, James Todd, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg. Helen later went on to teach at Canton ATC, only leaving to be a stay at home mom to her five children for many years. Helen returned to nursing in 1988 as part of the Prevent Home Care team for St. Lawrence County Public Health from which she retired in 2007. She dedicated her life to helping and supporting others through work, the community and church. Family was very important to Helen, raising 5 children and 7 grandchildren who love her dearly. Her homestead in Heuvelton, NY and St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church were very special to her. In her free time she enjoyed watching sports (especially the Yankees, Rangers and Skating Saints), swimming, crocheting, praying, volunteering, taking walks, being a Eucharistic Minister and Altar Rosary Society member at St. Raphael’s and especially spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Helen will be missed by all.
