Passed on September 15, 2018 at her home in Ignacio, Colorado. Jeannette was born to Stanley & Kathryn Fisher on March 16, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. Jeannette met the love of her life at Denver General, Elmer J. Martin Jr. in 1948. Jeannette was in nurses training and Elmer was an orderly. They knew after their first date that they would spend their lives together. Elmer & Jeannette were married in Farmington, New Mexico January 18, 1949. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, & great-great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. Jeannette taught at the Ignacio Schools and later worked for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in various capacities. She retired from her work with the SUIT in 1994. Jeannette served on the SUCAP Board of Directors for several years. She worked as a volunteer for the Adult Learning Center teaching GED classes and tutoring. She also served as a volunteer for the Butch McClanahan Memorial Library (now Ignacio Community Library), and the Salvation Army as a bell ringer at Christmas time, which was her favorite holiday. Jeannette made friends everywhere she went and will be missed by all.

Jeannette is survived by her husband of 69 years, Elmer J. Martin Jr.; children Bruce (Kathy) Martin, David A. Martin, Rosemary (Jim) Aiken, and Trish (Sylvian) Valdez; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
