Funeral services for Ms. Betty Perdue will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville with Reverend Roger George officiating. Interment will follow in Flatwoods Cemetery, Flatwoods, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Ms. Perdue, 86, of Lena, passed with peace and grace on Saturday, September 15, 2018 in her residence.

Betty met and married her husband Frank Perdue in Alabama and she often talked of how much she loved living there. Mom loved a sunny day, a bird's song and a flower in bloom. One of the most important things in her life was gardening. She loved being outdoors, working in the yard and raking pine straw or leaves into piles. As she grew older, Bill and I worried about her working so hard in the heat in her yard. It wasn't unusual to see her in her late 70's, stooped over in the summer heat, pulling weeds or raking. We'd tell her, "We don't want to find you out there, planted head down". She said, "If I have to have a way to go, that's the way I'd want it". She enjoyed snacking on junk food. Her grandchildren loved spending time at her house because they could eat all the foods there that their parents discouraged. She began each day reading from the Bible and a daily devotional. Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ms. Perdue is preceded in death by her parents, William Oda Basco and Eliza Martin Basco; her husband Frank Perdue; her son, David Darrell Perdue and eight siblings;

Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include two children, Deborah Boerboom and her husband Bill of Flatwoods, Derrick Perdue and his wife Tanya of Flatwoods; three grandchildren, Thierry, Zachariah, Kristen; three great grandsons, Victor, Caleb and Marcus.

Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
