Robert Luther Wauford was born on October 19, 1900 in DeKalb County, Tennessee, the son of Benjamin Isaac "Ike" Wauford (1857–1932) and Lucy Lee (Reasonover) Wauford (1859–1934). {It is noted that Ike's Death Certificate has his death in 1932, although his cemetery marker has 1934. And, Ike and Lucy were married on March 29, 1884 in Smith County.}

Educated in New Middleton in Smith County, Tennessee, Robert moved to Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri where he lived for a period of time before moving to Old Hickory, Davidson County, Tennessee about 1927.

He was married to Thresa C Nugent (1904–1994) on June 12, 1922 in Joplin, and she was the daughter of James William Nugent (1856–1927) and his wife Martha Ann (Plumlee) Nugent (1862–1932). {It is noted that the ONLY time that the middle initial of Robert's wife Thresa is listed as N - and referring to Nugent - is AFTER she was married to Robert Wauford. The only time that a public record has her middle initial BEFORE she was married is the 1920 census in which her name was listed as "Thressa C Nugent".}

He moved to Old Hickory, Davidson County, Tennessee about 1927, and a pipe fitter for E I duPont de Nemours & Company the last several years of his life, he was living at 1608 Hadley Street and was 44 years old and married when he died suddenly on July 17, 1945 at home of bronchial asthma.

Survivors included his widow Mrs Thresa Nugent Wauford, son George Wauford in Old Hickory, brothers George Wauford of Carthage, Tennessee, Oscar Wauford at Gallatin, Tennessee and Charles Wauford in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Funeral Services were held on July 19th at First Baptist Church, Old Hickory, and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Madison {city, not county}, with Phillips-Robinson & Company Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Much of the above is from his Death Certificate, with Mrs Thressa Wauford of 1608 Hadley as the informant. Additional information is from his obituary in THE TENNESSEAN on July 18, 1945.

Known child of Robert and Theresa:
~ George R Wauford (5 Aug 1929–23 Jan 2021) married

[For whatever reason, son George was NOT listed in the household of his parents in the 1930 census.}
