Alberta M. Harding, 73, of Country Club Drive, Newport, NH, died Friday, (October 27, 2000) at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born June 8, 1927 in Tunkhannock, PA, the daughter of Wellington and Della (Kester) Tiffany. Alberta was raised in Tunkhannock, PA and graduated from Tunkhannock High School. After World War II, Alberta married Delmare Harding, and together they shared 45 years of marriage. Mrs. Harding lived in East Hartford, and worked for the Underwood Typewriter Company in a variety of capacities. Before retiring, she was employed with the State of Connecticut in the Data Processing Dept. Mr. and Mrs. Harding joined their son, Kenneth and his family in Newport, NH six years ago. Alberta was an inspiration to her family and friends. She enjoyed entertaining, dancing and quilting. Survivors include her husband, Delmare Harding of Newport, NH; her son and his wife, Kenneth and Valorie Harding of Newport, NH; two sisters, Mary Lane of Tunkhannock, PA and Ruth LaFrance of Owego, NY; six grandchildren, Nora, Billie Jo, Alan, Amber, Bryanna, and Little Dale; also several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m., at The Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH. A private committal service will be held later at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Eileen Eroszonak, 8 Marcotte Ave., Claremont, NH 03743. The Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
