CLARK'S FALLS
Funeral of Horatio P. Palmer, One-time Famous Hunter
Funeral services for Horatio P. Palmer were held at Laurel Glen chapel Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. Rev. L. F. Randolph officiated.
The text of his sermon was Looking Unto Jesus and the lesson taught was the love and sympathy shown by the Savior to the unfortunate when on earth.
The bearers were three nephews, John and Isaac T. Hopkins, S. Frank Palmer, James Maine and Attaway Maine.
Burial was in Robbins cemetery.
Mr. Palmer was the second son of Stephen M. Palmer and Sally Slocum and was 81 years of age.
He married late in life Mrs. Dorcas Hartson, of Westerly and they lived fifteen years on a place he bought, called the Captain Dixon place, opposite River Bend cemetery.
After the death of his wife he sold his place and came to live with his youngest brother. Horace Palmer, the only one of the family now living. His eldest brother, Richard, died in Wisconsin, William and Clarissa in Illinois, Joanna passed away in Voluntown several years ago.
Mr. Palmer was a man of high moral character and had many friends among the hunters, in his younger days being a successful hunter of birds, foxes, otters, etc.
