Nicholas was born April 9, 1979 in Brownwood to Rick and Sherrie (Holland) Martin. He attended East Elementary and graduated from Brownwood High School with the Class of 1997. He went on to college and graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. in Government and minored in Business. Nick was a member of First Baptist Church his entire life and was very involved with the Youth Group.
After graduating from college, Nick worked for an Annuity Company in Stamford, Connecticut. He then worked for a mutual fund company in New York, New York. His latest work was as a Stock Option Trader for Maverick Trading in Austin.
Nicholas enjoyed being involved in sports and being a spectator to many UT football games. He also was an avid Brownwood Lion fan. He loved spending time with his many friends. Friendships that were cultivated early on through his teens remain and grew closer through the years. Nicholas cherished his niece and nephew, and they cherished him. He loved to be involved in their many interests. Nicholas also was the family storyteller, reliving the past and fun times.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his parents, Sherrie and Rick Martin of Brownwood; sister, Marissa Martin Roberson and husband Scotty of Hico; niece, Makaelynn Miles of Hico; nephew, Callaghan Miles of Hico; grandfather, Kenneth Sanford of Brownwood; aunts and uncles, Brenda and Steve Goodwin of Brownwood, Roneal and Terry Martin of Palm City, Florida, Herbie and Ima Martin of Early, and Sandra Correll of Pflugerville; and cousins, Stephanie Goodwin-Cline and Cody of Brownwood and Christopher and Jennifer Goodwin of Brownwood, Cami Simunek of Oklahoma, Chad Martin of Fort Worth, Rex and Shannon Martin of Early, Lee and Wade Beal of Damon, Angie and John Keese of LaVernia, and Monica and Nick Massey of Pflugerville.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Juanita Martin, Herbert Lee Martin Sr. and Helen Martin; maternal grandparents, Lonnie Myrle Holland and Mary Jane Holland-Sanford; and uncle, Mike Correll.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to First Baptist Church Brownwood or Howard Payne University.
