Ernestine Sims Martin June 26,1952 - Dec. 10, 2011 Ms. Ernestine Sims Martin of 941 Highland Avenue, Apt. D, departed her life on December 10, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. The daughter of the late Eddie and Elizzie Sims was born in Winston-Salem, NC on June 26, 1952 and was a graduate of Atkins High School. She was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church and the Women's Auxiliary of American Legion Post #128. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Torre Horton and sisters Everlene Williams, Janie Westberry and Betty Sims. Leaving to cherish her memories are a son, Tallus Horton; two grandchildren, Torrika House, Davon Mitchell; brothers James (Odessa)Sims, Willie Sims; sister, Annie (Thomas) Howard; play daughter, Cassandra Thomas, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many dear friends all of whom she loved very much. The family will receive friends and will be leaving the home of nephew, Tony Sims, 1201 Doublin Dr., W-S, NC 27101. The visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Mars Hill Baptist Church located at 1331 E. 4th Street, W-S, NC 27101. The funeral service will follow immediately after visitation. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Gilmore Funeral Home.
