Louis Herbert Gray passed away in the comfort of his home in St. Augustine on Sept. 8, 2018. He was born on April 26, 1937 in Fort Scott, Kan. to the late Alvin and Bertha Gray. He married the love of his life, the late Judith A. Gray in 1970; they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage together. He proudly served his country for twenty years and retired as a First Class Petty Officer from the United States Navy in 1976 from Norfolk Naval Station.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judith Gray; son, Ronald Gray; brother, Robert Gray; and sister, Calvina Gray. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Gray; his sisters, Opal Binford and Jeanette Schweikert; his four children, Charles Gray, Christine (James) Healy, Eileen Strakal, Valerie (Charles) Allison; his two step-children, Joseph Rusin, Krista (Scott) Harris; his twelve grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Lou was known for his passion of fishing and affinity for photography. He was also a Grand Mason and brother of the Lynnhaven Masonic Lodge in Virginia Beach, Va. He will be placed to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery on October 5 at 10 a.m. There will be a gathering in celebration of Lou's life following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Louis H. Gray to: The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge, A.F. & A.M., of Virginia, Lynnhaven Lodge No. 220, 2959 N. Lynnhaven Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
