Rev. Gideon Ackley Knowlton was the son of Thomas and Abigail (Ackley) Knowlton. Lydia (Smith) Knowlton was his 1st wife. Lydia died in 1775. Mary "Polly" (Hayden) Knowlton was his 2nd wife. They were married November 22, 1781. Mary died August 29, 1822. Rev. Knowlton was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: Philadelphia Conference 1800 F1802 New York Conference by change of boundaries 1804 Genesee (Western New York/now Upper New York) Conference at organization 1810. He was the first death in the Genesee Conference.
