David Sherman Stokes, 48, of Rigby, Idaho passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. David was born August 1, 1970 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is the son of Sherman K. Stokes and LaDene Chatterton Stokes.

David attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School in 1988. His friends lovingly nicknamed him "Sherm". He has maintained many of those friendships throughout his life.

On August 15, 1992, David married Terri Tyler in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on December 26, 2009. He was blessed with three beautiful children, Camron, Mckenzie Jo, and Carson. He spent many hours watching their ball games, working on pick-ups and dirt bikes, and camping and fishing with them. They were his life. He and Terri spent much of their time together. He was her number one fan. He supported her in her many passions, whether it was looking for antiques or restoring a "treasure" she had discovered. He had only just recently discovered the pure joy of being a grandfather. Second only to his family was Dave's love for ice cream he would enjoy a big bowl and sometimes a carton almost every night before bed.

He worked as a Draftsman, and in the construction business for the past 20 years. He served on the Central Fire District as an EMT. He was an avid fly fisherman and loved shooting guns. He might have called himself a marksman.

David is survived by his wife Terri and children: Camron, Mckenzie (Dalton) Landon, and Carson. Grandson Roston Landon. Parents Sherman and LaDene Stokes, siblings; Melissa (Ben) Ball, Trina Stokes, Jake Stokes, Amanda (Mark) Fredrickson. Father and Mother- in-law Val and Julie Tyler. Brother-and Sisters- in- law Trent and Shalaina Tyler, Traci and Randy Waite; and several nieces and nephews who love him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Ruby Stokes and N.J. and Thelma Chatterton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Garfield 4th Ward (5 N. 3900 E. Rigby) on Saturday September 15, 2018. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. and prior to the service on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. both at the Church. Interment will be at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com.
