Danny Ray Price, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 70, on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Emery Lee and Mary Lorene Price welcomed their firstborn to the world October 16, 1947, in Willow Springs, Missouri.
Danny was united in marriage to Willie Mae Rogers March 28, 1970. The couple made their home in Birch Tree, Missouri. Danny spent his younger years in Japan until the age of eleven. He was always full of adventure; climbing Mt. Fuji at the age of nine, and making it all the way to the top. From that day forward, he spent his life seeking adventure, and living each day to the fullest. Danny drove a truck for 47 years from coast to coast. The places he saw, the people he met from all walks of life, gave him eternal friendships. He loved telling us stories about the places he traveled.
He loved country music, bluegrass, and gospel. He always shared his knowledge and his experiences. Danny never knew a stranger, and would help anyone in need. He survived much havoc in his life; from truck wrecks, storms, and sickness. But, the one thing he couldn’t recover from was cancer. He never complained, and the only thing Danny would say was, “Boy, I’m in a ‘predicament’ this time.”
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Mae Price, and Toad and Alley Price; his father, Emery; and infant great grandchildren, Gina and Jana Grandstaff, Kalvin Kelly, and Joseph Plybon.
Those who survive are his wife, Willie Mae Price, of Birch Tree, MO; his mother, Lorene Kolbe of Birch Tree; children, Robbin Taber and husband, Les, of Mountain View, MO, Nikki Grandstaff and husband, Richard, of Birch Tree, and Monica Kelly and husband, Kevin, of Birch Tree; grandchildren, April Norris and Don Markel of Lebanon, MO, Angie Pugh and husband, Alex, of Branson, MO, Oran Grandstaff and wife, Tiffany, of Birch Tree, and Grant Grandstaff; great grandchildren, Elijah and Isaac Plybon, Kinlee Grandstaff, Logan Pugh, Chase Yardley, Korbin and Austin Ferguson, and Cohen Markel; siblings, Janice Manly, Jerry Sandbothe, Richard Price, Bruce Kolbe, Doug Kolbe, and Keith.
Danny will be missed by so very many. He is now living his final adventure, in a perfect body…wrapped in the arms of Jesus.
Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday evening, September 14, 2018 at Yarber Mortuary-Birch Tree Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Oak Grove Church, Birch Tree, Missouri with Pastor Jeff Brake and Donnie Layman officiating. Interment will be in Oak Forest Cemetery, Birch Tree. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
