Mrs. Wanda Lang Murphy, age 94, died on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Aime Hospice Care in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Wanda Lang Murphy was born on January 11, 1924, into the marriage of former Louisiana State Representative Dudley D. Lang and Eula Harlan Lang. She was a graduate of Atlanta High School and attended Louisiana College where she was a Honor Roll Student and was a Homecoming Maid. While attending college, she met and married her husband of 54 years after 3 weeks of courtship. During the early years of her marriage, she lived in Louisiana and Wisconsin while her husband served his country during World War II. She traveled with him and their children during his years of construction and employment in the United States and Canada, prior to establishing a permanent residence in Montgomery, Louisiana. As her children grew into adulthood, she began working in the family business and eventually went to work as a healthcare provider at Pinecrest Service Center.

In 2004 she moved to the Shreveport area to live closer to her two youngest children, Bridget and Kevin. They were her major care givers during her latter years of life.

Wanda cherished her time with her grandchildren and left fond memories. She loved needle working especially crocheting and enjoyed teaching others her craft. Her quick wit and fun loving manner will keep all who knew her wrapped in smiles as they remember her.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James H. Murphy and brother Willard Lang. She leaves her sons Terry (Susie) Mickey (Joy) Tim (Judy) Kevin (Janet) and one daughter Bridget Bagley (Jerry), 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 15, 2018 in the Saint Patrick Catholic Church of Montgomery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday beginning one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow in Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield.
