Billie Redmon Ballard, 87, of Asheville, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Care Partners Solace Center in Asheville.

A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Redmon and Grace Ramsey Castelloe. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Ballard in 2005 and her half-brothers, Terry and Jerry Redmon.

Billie retired from Kenilworth Presbyterian Church in December 2008 where she had served as church Secretary since August 1979. She was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church for over 60 years, having served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, church treasurer, and member of several boards and committees as well as the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon Rhodes, and husband Art, of Gerton; three sons, Thomas Mitchell Ballard of Glen Alpine, Richard Scott Ballard, and wife Tina, of Greeneville TN, and Joseph Christopher Ballard and wife Mindy, of Arden; six grandchildren, Chaz Rhodes, Anna Rhodes Thompson, Sam Little, Nicholas Ballard, Madison Ballard, and Sarah Beth Ballard; and one brother, Bobby Redmon of Richmon VA, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Bethel United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Terry Duckworth. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian in Arden.
