Donald Gene Coleman (Donnie) was born on October 5, 1952 in Stroud, Oklahoma and departed this life at his home in Stroud, Oklahoma on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the age of 65 years.
Donald was the son of J. E. (Pat) and Susan Rebecca (Pierson) Coleman. Donnie, as so many refer to him as, grew up around the Kendrick and Stroud area. He graduated from Stroud High School in 1970. In 1972 he married Rhonda Taylor to which he had two children with, Kristy and Melissa. His children gave him 7 beautiful grandchildren which he loved and adored. On Jan 2, 1993 he married Deborah Jean. For a short time Donnie and Debbi made a home in Mississippi until her passing in Dec of 1996. Donnie moved back to his home town of Stroud in early 1997. Over the past 21 years he has reconnected with old friends and developed new friendships. He made his home north of Stroud in the backwoods as he called it where he could do what he wanted and there was nothing like the beautiful sounds and sights of nature. This is where he felt most at home. Donnie was a avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He also loved to garden, woodwork, and mess around in nature. Donnie also loved his dogs. They were his family.
Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, J.E. (Pat) and Susan Coleman, His wife Deborah Coleman, one brother, Glendon James, and one nephew Chad Coleman.
Survivors include two daughters, Kristy Coleman of Stroud, Melissa Coleman of Pawnee, two brothers, David Coleman & wife Rosene of Oklahoma City, Patrick Coleman of Crescent, one sister, Barbara Minter & husband John of Tulsa, seven grandchildren, Alissa, Gaige, Colin, Wyatt, Cannon, Kayden and Jaxson, several nieces and nephews, his best friend Terry Hamilton, and many others relatives and friends.
The family would like to invite all those who knew and loved him to a Celebration of Life service Saturday Sept 15 at 2pm at the Stroud Wilderness Center on Stroud Lake (820314 S 3580 Rd (5.15 mi) Stroud, Oklahoma 74079). We want to celebrate his life from beginning to end and bring a joy in remembering the good times we all shared.
