Annie Carlton passed away peacefully on September 12, 2018. She lived at Maverick, TX in the house where she was born until her death.

She graduated from high school in 1940 and attended Angelo Junior College for one year.

She was hired to work as head bookkeeper at Shannon Hospital after college.

After WWII she married Russell Carlton and they moved to the farm at Maverick in the fall of 1947. Farming was a joint venture for Mom and Dad. In 1967 she began part-time work for the Ag Department in Austin and worked for them for 41 years until she retired in 2008.

Mom was a caretaker and loved her family. She was a selfless and tireless worker. She loved to play 88 with her sisters and their husbands, family gatherings, fishing, sightseeing, sports, and doting and spending time with her only granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Russell.

She is survived by her three children, Wayne Carlton of Frisco, Linda BeVier and husband Scott of Waxahachie, Kit Carlton of Maverick, granddaughter Sarah Foster of San Angelo, and step-grandson Matt BeVier and wife Kyla and their children Vivi and Nicholas of Accra, Ghana and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her honor to Bronte Church of Christ, Hospice of Ballinger, or Shannon Hospital.

Graveside service will be held Friday, September 14, at 10:00 am at Home Cemetery, Maverick, Texas.
