Melinda Ann Simpson Robinson was born in Lafayette, La on July 3, 1951: daughter of the late Clifton Joseph Simpson and the late Marjorie August Simpson.

Melinda attended St Paul Elementary School and graduated From Holy Rosary Institute in 1969. Melinda attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 1969 – 1970. She transferred to Southern University Baton Rouge in 1970 and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Library Science.

Melinda began her career of over 40 years as an educator in 1974 in Pensacola, FL. Upon moving to Baton Rouge, she resumed her career in East Feliciana Parish and East Baton Rouge Parish ending in May of 2018. Her talents spanned a wide spectrum of creativity and she had the innate ability to reach all age groups.

Melinda was christened a Roman Catholic and took her faith very serious. She was a faithful member of St. Louis King of France and now St. Thomas More Catholic Church for over 30 years. She served her church as a religious education facilitator, eucharistic minister and a Catholic Daughter.

Melinda married Eugene C. Robinson on May 26, 1974. To this union Jarrett Edward, Justin Charles, and Jalena Elizabeth Robinson were born. Those who will carry on and cherish her memory are her husband of 44 years Eugene, 2 sons Jarrett, wife D’Lisa and son Jackson, Justin, wife Tanita, and daughter Ava, and daughter Jalena all of Virginia. A sister Amanda Charles, husband Dean of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, a brother John Clifton wife Lori, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a sister-in-law Denise of Carenco, LA, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clifton and Marjorie Simpson, maternal grandparents, Joseph and Elizabeth August, paternal grandparents Lee and Mercedes Simpson, brother Thomas Simpson, uncles Dalton and Weston Simpson, John August, aunts Loretha Simpson, Ella Mae Comeaux, and Lorena Andres.
