MAMARONECK, NEW YORK — Stephen Philip Gordon, age 56, beloved husband, father, son, friend and political consultant, left this world suddenly, unexpectedly and far too soon on September 5, 2018 in White Plains, New York.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara (Hall) Gordon of Hartselle, Alabama; wife, Deborah (Speck) Gordon, M.D.; son, Bryan James Gordon, of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter, Amy Elisabeth Gordon, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and brother, David Gordon, of Anza, California.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Gordon, of Hartselle and grandparents, Luther and Evelyn Hall of Sheffield.
Stephen was born on July 31, 1962 in Sheffield, Alabama to Paul and Barbara (Hall) Gordon. He was very active in Boy Scouts of America. The family later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and Stephen graduated from Lincoln High School in 1980. Stephen enlisted in the Army and became a Sergeant in the Signal Corps. He served during Operation Desert Storm. His service in the Army spanned more than a decade, during which time he earned numerous awards: Good Conduct Medal; Multiple Army Achievement Medal; an Army Commendation Medal.
While stationed at Fort McNair in Washington, DC, he became influenced by Oliver North and Colin Powell who sparked his interest in politics and planted seeds which would later blossom into a successful career in political communications. He later worked on North's run for the U.S. senate.
After being Honorably Discharged July 7, 1995, Stephen relocated to Macon, Georgia, where he worked in medical practice management and became active in the Libertarian Party of Georgia, co-founding two county chapters and ascending to leadership positions.
Stephen moved to Hartselle in 2002 and became very involved in various local, state and national campaigns and became a very experienced and respected political consultant. He subsequently served as the Alabama media director for Ron Paul's presidential campaign.
In 2014, Stephen moved to Mamaroneck, New York to work for Project Veritas, where he served as Director of Special Operations and Communications Director until his untimely death.
Stephen's goal was that of making the United States into the country that Thomas Jefferson had envisioned. He wanted to make the world a better place during his lifetime and mentored many young people. He was a kind and generous person who went out of his way to help many people.
