John T. Martel, 84 of Greenville, NY, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Born in 1934, he was the son of Jeremiah and Grace Martel (nee Sullivan) of Waldwick, NJ. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy “Dolly” Martel (nee DiCrosta) and his sister Phillis Hanley (nee Martel). When Dolly and Jack won the 1958 Skating Intra Dance National Title, it was the beginning of a great, big family. Jack’s family was his pride and joy. He retired from NJ Transit in 2004 having worked his way up to the top of the 1,250-person roster. He was a self-confessed workaholic that never sat still, who loved working with people. Always friendly and happy to lend a hand to those in need. During his off hours at the railroad he drove Short-Line buses, ran a Limousine business and worked as a police officer.
