Rebecca Carolyn (nee: Glass) Warren died February 22, 2017, in Birmingham, AL. She was born February 6, 1921, in Emory, Texas and received BA and BS degrees from Texas State College for Women in 1940.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wicker Ira Glass and Stella Arboree Amis Glass; and by her husband of 60 years, William Michael Warren. As told in a favorite family story, Carolyn met Bill Warren by chance at a New Year's dinner party on January 1, 1943. Bill shipped overseas to the South Pacific with the Marines and Carolyn worked for the USDA and IBM. Bill returned from World War II and they were married on December 20, 1945, in the living room of her parents' home in Bryan, Texas. In 1955, the family moved to Auburn where Bill became Head of the Animal Science Department at Auburn University. In 1980, Bill retired and they returned to Texas. After Bill died, Carolyn moved to Birmingham in 2012 to live at St. Martin's in The Pines.

Carolyn is survived by their six sons: William Michael Warren, Jr. (Anne McLeod), of Birmingham, AL; Charles Wicker Warren (Laura Kann), of Princeton, IL; John Wells Warren (Leigh Williamson), of Auburn, AL; James Perrin Warren (Julianne Lutz) of Lexington, VA; Joseph Robert Warren of Auburn, AL; and, Andrew Louis Warren (Carol Cain), of Cypress, TX. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, her brother, Joe L. Glass (Janell) of Lufkin, Texas, and a number of cousins and nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was a devoted wife and mother and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her quick wit and her pleasant personality. She was friendly to all and a great teller of family stories. Through her genealogy work, much family history has been captured for future generations. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Monday, March 6 at 3 p.m. at St. Martin's In The Pines, The Arbor 4949 Montevallo Road. Visitation to follow. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on April 29 in Bryan City Cemetery.
