Sharon Marie Culver Wells, 73, was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2016, after a ten year battle with breast cancer. Visitation will be Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 2:00 pm until the 3:00 pm chapel service at Breeland Funeral Home, 3304 S. Liberty Street, Canton, MS.

Sharon was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Nov. 12, 1942 to the late, Orville Ollie Culver and the late, Hydee Marie Grenn Culver. Her family later relocated to Bogue Chitto, MS, where she graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1960.

After graduation, she attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, where she met her husband, Richard Keith Wells. They married in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on December 18, 1966. They later moved to Jackson, MS to start their family.

She worked for many years at University of Mississippi Medical Center in the GI Lab as a microbiologist under Dr. James Achord. She went back to college to earn her Master's degree from Mississippi College and subsequently obtained her CPA license. She retired from MS Department of Environment Quality in 2005. She also worked for H&R Block during tax season for almost 30 years leaving behind many devoted clients.

Sharon is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Richard, who retired from Mississippi Dept. of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks; and by her daughters, Lisa Wells Johnson (Don) of Flower Mound, TX and Amy Wells Easterling (Woody) of Madison, MS; and grandchildren: Richard Easterling (Madison, MS); Emma Johnson, William Johnson and Bryan Johnson, all of Flower Mound, TX. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Charlotte Mary Culver Smith of Bossier City, Louisiana.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Tammy Young and staff at Jackson Oncology Associates (Hederman Cancer Center) in Jackson, MS for the wonderful care of Sharon for over 10 years, and Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland for their warm and loving care of Sharon in her last days of life.

Memorials may be made in honor of Sharon to Magnolia Speech School, 733 N. Flag Chapel Road, Jackson, MS 39209.
