John was born on June 19, 1926 in Bremen, Indiana to John L. and Thelma B. (Yenna) Flora. John met the love of his life Margaret L. Ward in church, dated and married in Tulsa Oklahoma on February 29, 1948. When Margaret preceded John in passing on April 1, 2014 they had enjoyed 66 years of marriage. John and Margaret ran a horse boarding-training stable, were active 4H Horse Program, on both the local and state level and fostered teens in their home for ten years. John honorably served his county in the United States Army during WWII. He was a retiree of Bendix.
Those left to cherish John’s memory are his children, John Flora of Indianapolis, Becky (Pat) Donahue of Plymouth, Marilyn (Paul) Lautrup of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Wanda (Kelly) Neville of Hillsborough, North Carolina, Holly (Gary) Moyer of Argos; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, John is preceded in passing by his parents, his loving wife, Margaret, his son, Todd in 2006, his daughter-in-law, Diane and his brothers, Russell G. Flora, Louis E. Flora and his sister, Mary A. Edgar.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangement for the Flora family. Private family burial has taken place in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
