(This post by Emily Salazar) Phillip Medina Sr. was my uncle on my father's side of the family, through marriage. He was married to my father Glbert's sister Lupe. I have very few photos of Uncle Phillip, but I found one I like of him with his son Arthur, my cousin. I spent many days at Aunt Lupe and Uncle Phillip's home, but Uncle Phillip was very quiet and we didn't converse much. I practiced my Spanish with him sometimes. One memory I have is of him playing dominoes with my father and uncles. He won. Another memory is that he made cast iron kitchen ware. I still have and use 3 cast iron items made by Uncle Phillip: a flat iron skillet for tortillas, a large saute pan for carne guisada, and my favorite, a molded skillet for 6 cornbread sticks.
