The Columbus Journal, July 17, 1878
Last week we made mention of the fact that John Barrow was suffering from paralysis of the limbs, the effects of a sun stroke some years ago, and now it becomes our painful duty to record his death on Monday last. The deceased was in the fifty-ninth year of his age, and was one of the old settlers of Platte county, well-known and respected as an upright man and good citizen. The funeral took place yesterday at two o'clock. A wife and family of seven children are left to mourn their sad loss.
