Norma L. Larson, 91 of Adams, Minnesota, died Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the Adams Health Care Center.

Norma Lee Van Meter was born on November 8, 1926 at Ada, Kansas to Lee and Doris (Lambertson) Van Meter. She graduated from high school in Ada in 1944 and from business college in Salina, Kansas. Norma worked for the Federal Government before marrying Donald Larson on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1947 at the Ada Methodist Church. Norma and Don lived in Salina, Kansas where their son, Randy, was born. Their daughter, Janet, was born in Minnesota where they farmed for 37 years before retiring to Adams.

Norma served several years on the Austin Community College Foundation Board. She was a member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church where she served as the Organist for over 20 years accompanying both the Junior and Senior Choirs. She was chosen to serve on the Music Committee and was instrumental in buying a Pipe Organ for the church. She was President of ALCW, Mothers Club and Circle and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting, ceramics, bowling, and playing bridge and other card games with friends. Norma and Don loved traveling throughout the United States and taking trips to Hawaii, Mexico City, Canada and a cruise to the Caribbean. They also enjoyed camping with their family, fishing trips and wintering in Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Doris Van Meter and her sister, Carol Burkman.

Norma is survived by her husband, Donald Larson, Adams, Minnesota; son, Randy (Becky) Larson, Bloomington, Minnesota; daughter, Janet (Tom) Perreault, Grand Junction, Colorado; five grandchildren, Michael (Karen) Larson, Kristopher Johnson, Heather (David) Hays, Chad (Erin Shea) Larson and Jenna (Henry) Nicholls; six great grandchildren; brother, Vic (Vandelia) Van Meter, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 13th at Little Cedar Lutheran Church with the Reverend Jeremy Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Little Cedar Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday one hour before the service. There will be a luncheon at the church following the funeral service.

The family prefers memorials to the Little Cedar Lutheran Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Norma Lee Van Meter was born to Lee Van Meter and Doris (Lambertson) Van Meter on November 8, 1926. Her mother, Doris, is 103 and living in Minneapolis, Kansas, in the long term care unit of the hospital. She has a brother, Victor, and his wife, Vandelia, in Fort Worth, Texas. Her father, Lee, and sister, Carol, are deceased.

Norma graduated from Ada High School in Kansas and from Business College in Salina, Kansas. She worked for the Federal Government before being married to Donald Larson on Easter Sunday (April 6, 1947) at Ada Methodist Church. They lived in Salina, Kansas, where their son, Randy was born. After moving to Minnesota, they had a daughter, Janet. They now have a daughter-in-law, Becky, and a son-in-law, Thomas, along with 3 grandsons: Michael Kristopher, Chad (wife Erin) and 2 granddaughters: Heather and Jenna.

The activities and hobbies she has enjoyed are gardening, baking, crocheting, ceramics, bowling, playing bridge and other card games with friends. Going on trips including Hawaii, Mexico City, Canada, traveling throughout the USA, a cruise to the Caribbean, going camping with family, fishing trips, and wintering in Arizona. Her favorite hymns are "Blessed Assurance," "He Lives," and "Precious Lord Take My Hand." Her favorite bible passage is Psalm 100.
