New Iberia - Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 10, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Mrs. Walter J. Dubois, Sr., the former Billie Jean Abney, 86, who passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018, in New Iberia.

Rev. Ed Degeyter, a close friend of the family, will be the Officiant. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, and will continue on Monday from 8:00 am until 10:00 am. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Sunday.

Mrs. DuBois was born on June 4, 1932 to the late David Abney, Sr. and Goldie Gramble Abney. She was a retired nurse, having worked her entire career at Dauterive Hospital. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and spending time with her family. Some of her greatest memories were the many years she and the love of her life, Walter, traveled the United States, Canada, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Walter and Billie were members of the Crusin' Cajuns for a number of years.

Billie is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 65 years, Walter J. DuBois, Sr.; sons, Walter J. DuBois, Jr. and wife Debra of Alexandria, and Jeff DuBois and wife Cynthia of Broussard; brother, David Abney, Jr. of New Iberia; grandchildren, Jonathan (Dominique) DuBois of Spring, TX, Brandon (Erin) DuBois of Houston, TX, Katie DuBois of Lafayette, and Alex (Katie) DuBois of Broussard; great-grandchildren, Evangeline DuBois, Scarlett DuBois, Eliza DuBois, Everleigh DuBois, and Nathaniel DuBois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Abney LaBauve.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan DuBois, Brandon DuBois, Alex DuBois, Jack Abney, Mark Abney, and Lenny DuBois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
