Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Louise Melton McBride, 71, of Durant were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant. Rev. Steve Delony was the officiating minister. Interment was in the Brister Cemetery near Durant.
Mrs. McBride died Monday, April 21 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
She was a native of Holmes County and member of the First Baptist Church in Durant.
She is survived by her husband, J.V. “Billy” McBride of Durant; one daughter, Mrs. Edith Trussell of Greenville; one son. Virgil McBride of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Peden and Mrs. Bessie Vaughn, both of Durant, and Mrs. Eugenia Loftis of Southaven; three brothers, E.E. Melton, Jr. of El Paso, Texas, Arthur Melton of Durant, and Irby Melton of Yazoo City; and three grandchildren.
