Staff Sgt. Martinez of West Jordan, Utah joined the Army shortly after graduating from West Jordan High School in 1992. He was currently serving his second tour of duty in Iraq. A native of West Valley, Utah, Chance had just returned to Iraq after spending time with his wife and four of his five children. His fifth child lives with his ex-wife in Oklahoma. He knew at a very young age that he was going to be a police officer or a soldier. It was who he has always been. Stationed in Germany for the past eight years, Martinez joined the Army after graduating high school in 1992. Chance was preceded in death by Grandpa and Grandma Cooper, Grandpa Martinez and Grandpa Samuel Oliver; cousin, Joseph Byers; step-brother, Shane Oliver and his Aunt Cookie Martinez. He was 33.
