WORCESTER: Edwin Arnold Moore, Jr. was peacefully re-united with his parents, Edwin Sr. and Esther (Hammond) Moore, brothers Robert, Richard, Raymond, William and sister Agnes, on September 8, 2018.
Ed leaves behind eight children and their spouses, Linda and husband Terry Schreiber; Michael Moore and wife Wendy; Nancy and husband Robert Waldron; Karen and husband Joseph Alarie; James Moore and wife Orna; Mary and husband Joseph Toner; Matthew Moore; Jason Moore and wife Nicole. He also leaves 20 precious grandchildren: Jon and Jared Schreiber; Morgan Roberts; Melissa Moore; James Voutour; Jessica Gallis; Kelly Waldron; Rachel Waldron; Samantha Alarie; Andrew and Nicholas Moore; Arianna Moore; Quinn Toner; Camryn Toner; Leyden Brousseau; Thomas, Jack and Ryan Moore; Johnny and Katie Moore. He also leaves 6 adorable great grandchildren as well as his sisters-in-law Carol and Helen, and many loved nieces, nephews and friends.
Ed was born in Worcester and lived in Paxton and Worcester for most of his life. Ed proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked in the Worcester Steel industry after serving his country. He drove a truck for Dubarry Industries, then finally McLean’s for a total of 35 years. Ed was always painting houses, his own, family members and friends. Eventually, he and his brother Bill started their own painting business. He painted well into his retirement years and considered the Reardon family, for whom he worked many painting jobs, close friends. Ed took great pride in his work and has left his strong work ethic, dedication to service and passion for helping others as his legacy to his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family and friends.
Ed loved people – they were drawn to him, his kindness and his love of life. Many family members and friends tell stories of how he helped them with a car, or a few dollars or help with moving just when they needed it the most. He loved animals, and he had a particular soft spot for his dogs. He leaves behind his beloved Ginger in the care of his children. He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, he loved his scratch tickets and he loved the Red Sox. He was an avid Patriots fan and a huge John Wayne fan. Many a Sunday afternoon was spent watching westerns with his kids, or laughing to Pink Panther movies.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13 in J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer at 11:00 AM. Burial in Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, Winchendon will be private at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.
