Rigoberto “Puli” Martinez, age 49, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 1, 2018. He was the husband of Liz Ortiz of Fall River.
Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, a son of Elena Cruz of Lynn, Massachusetts and the late Ramon Luis Martinez, he had been a resident of Fall River for the past fifteen years.
He worked as a Machine Operator at Blount Fine Foods for the past fourteen years. Rigoberto’s favorite times were spent with his family and on his boat fishing. He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. He was known for his jokes, great cooking skills, big heart and great generosity. He loved having a good time, was always smiling, always happy and simply was the “life of the party.”
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by four children, Evelyn Martinez of Dorado, Puerto Rico, Moises Castro of Fall River, Isaias Martinez of Connecticut and Ashley Martinez of Fall River; six siblings, Dalys Martinez of Lynn, Ramon Martinez and his wife Mercedes Guevara of Buffalo, New York, Julio Angel Martinez and his wife Ivy Gaetan of Dorado, Puerto Rico, Maria Martinez, Saul Martinez and Joel Martinez and his spouse Edwin Diaz all of Lynn. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 6:00PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to his service from 3:00 to 6:00PM. “Puli Show” will be laid to rest by his father’s side on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 12:00 NOON directly at Pine Grove Cemetery on Boston Street in Lynn, Massachusetts.
