Actress. She was the larger than life 'Elsie Tanner' on "Coronation Street." Portraying the strong, big hearted "loose woman," who really wasn't. She was a consumate stage actor and one of the most popular characters in the history of "the Street." Pat had a disasterous audition for the role of 'Elsie Tanner' in August 1960, but she had that something that the producers needed, and she remained in that role 23 years. After leaving "the Street," she did various radio and TV roles, and she also played the lead role in Constant Hot Water, a failed sitcom.
