David M. Hollingshead, 91, of 11501 Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon, passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, surrounded by family and friends at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born Dec. 14, 1926, at his family’s farm in Todd Township, he was the son of the late Mitchel and Adeline (Corbin) Hollingshead. He was united in marriage to the former Twila M. McEwen Dec. 3, 1944, at the Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Tobias Henry. His wife of 72 years preceded him in death March 6, 2017.

Mr. Hollingshead is survived by his daughter, Judith McCracken of Huntingdon; a son, Don Hollingshead of New Albany; seven grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Hood of Greencastle.

He was preceded in death by a son, David, who resided in Belleville; a sister, Luella Locke, who resided in Pottstown; a brother, Frank, who resided in Cassville; a granddaughter, Sherri Hollingshead; and a grandson, Chris.

Mr. Hollingshead was a member of the 12th Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, and served as trustee chairman and Sunday school teacher.

He was a cadet in the United States Army Air Corps, training to be a bomber pilot during World War II.

Mr. Hollingshead was a member of the former McCon nell- stown Volun- teer Fire Co. and was a life member of the Frank P. Hommon Ameri- can Legion Post 24, Huntingdon.

He worked at Sealtest Dairy for 11 years and at SCI Huntingdon for 30 years, where he retired as a carpenter tradesman instructor and locksmith.

Mr. Hollingshead loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and building and fixing things.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday,

Aug. 24, at the 12th

Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, with Ann Foor, pastor, officiating. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, following the service.

Friends and family will be received at the church from noon until the hour of service Friday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Hollingshead may be made to the 12th Street United Methodist Church, 313 12th St., Huntingdon, PA 16652; or the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 Schoolhouse Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
