Arlene Annbell Davis Hughes, 92, widow of Willie James “Jimmy” Hughes, of Beaufort, SC, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at her residence.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 5-7pm at Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 11:00am at Grays Hill Baptist Church with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Hughes was born on October 3, 1925 in Berlin, VT. She is the daughter of the late Will L. Davis and Jessie Tucker Davis.
She was a registered nurse who had worked at Colleton Medical Center, Naval Hospital in Beaufort and Beaufort Memorial Hospital. She retired at the age of 81 after a 59 year nursing career. She was a member of the Grays Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are five children, Steve Hughes (Christine) of Conway, SC; Billy Hughes (Vickie) of Beaufort, SC; Barbara Heckley (Paul) of Camlachie, Ontario, Canada; Janet Cox (Walter) of Gaffney, SC and Pam Jarrell (David) of Beaufort, SC; ten grandchildren, Steven Hughes, Julie Hughes, Amy Upton (Vince), Chris Heckley (Debbie), Jamie Cox, Shannon Woodward (Jaysin), Charley Smith, David Ray Jarrell (Leslie), Joshua Jarrell (Jessica), Jessica Nielsen (Caine) and 17 great grandchildren.
