Marie Gladys Hampton of Concord, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at Five Oaks Manor in Concord.

Marie was born July 18, 1917 in McCook, NE.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Hampton; son, Calvin Hampton; brothers, Leo, Bernard,Leonard, and Eugene Schliz; and sisters, Florence Nelson and Margaret Heskett.

Services are pending at this time.

She is survived by her sons, Garry Hampton and wife Meryl of Lexington, MA, Henry Hampton and wife Heidi of South Dakota, Wayne Hampton of San Jose, CA; daughters, Ilene Smith of Concord, NC, Sandy Smith of Tuscan, AZ; brother, Richard Schliz of Arvada, CO; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.

Marie was the wife of a career military man, so she acted as not only mother but father to her children. She loved going bowling, playing pinochle, and sewing. She was very active when she lived in California in the political system working for the board of elections.
