CLEARFIELD - Dorothy Miner Malmgren, 86, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at her daughter's home with her family by her side.
She was born May 6, 1932 in Salem, Utah to Charles D. and Elmina Johnson Miner. She was raised in Salem, Utah, attended Spanish Fork High School and graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She married Edwin Darnel Malmgren on September 19, 1953 in Salem, Utah; later divorced. They had five children together, Connie, Jim, Sandra, Richard and Terry.
She enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, crocheting, family history and writing in her diaries. She loved roses and lilacs. She loved to listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Fiddler on the Roof. She loved to play the piano at church and at home. She helped all her children buy pianos for their homes.
She was a clerk at Hill Air Force Base and retired after 40 years of civil service.
Dorothy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many church callings but most enjoyed working with the Cub Scouts and served as a Primary teacher in the Clearfield 4th Ward for more than 20 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law, Barbara Malmgren, siblings, Faye Loose, Carl Miner, Elma Emory, Leah Shapiro, Lewis Miner and Deona Rasmussen.
Surviving are her children, Connie (Norm) Lords, Jim Malmgren, Sandra (Guy) Rose, Richard (Suzanne) Malmgren, Terry (Desiree) Malmgren, 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and sister, Elaine Densley.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Springville Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, Utah.
