Judy C. (Gaston) Stewart, 74, of Huntingdon, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at her residence, following a brief battle with cancer.

Born April 24, 1944, in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, she was the daughter of the late Max and Jane (Tyger) Gaston. She was united in marriage to Willard E. Stewart Sept. 5, 1970, in Reynoldsville. Her husband of 47 years survives at their residence.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by two children, Joel Stewart and his wife, Amy, of Denver, Colorado, and Jodi Stewart of Indian Trail, North Carolina; and a grandson, Troy Stewart of Denver, Colorado.

She is also survived by three siblings, Max Gaston and his wife, Linda, Shirley McGee and Rick Gaston; four nephews, Ryan McGee, Bill Buhite and his wife, Rita, Dan Stewart and his wife, Stephanie, and Matthew Stewart and his wife, Kate; seven nieces, Jenna Wolfe and her husband, Dan, Kayla Golnoski and her husband, Johnathan, Leslie and Michelle Gaston, Miriam Bonner and her husband, Jeff, Lori Pomeroy and her husband, Seth, and Joanna McLeod; a brother-in-law, Arnold Stewart and wife, Jane; a sister-in-law, Ruth Buhite and husband, Bill; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Stewart was a member of the McConnellstown United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Good Samaritan Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women.

She was a member of the Standing Stone VFW Auxiliary Post No. 1754, Huntingdon, where she served as a past conductress and former chaplain and was newly installed as the auxiliary president. In addition, she also recently became a member of the Red Hat Society Inc.

Mrs. Stewart attended Indiana County public schools and was a 1962 graduate of Marion Center High School.

She was employed as a secretary who had worked for Dr. Hoover’s Podiatry Office, as well as the former Huntingdon Bone & Joint and the former Medical Billing Center prior to its relocation.

Mrs. Stewart had a passion for traveling, both nationally and internationally; and was a talented sewer who was capable of making everything from three-piece suits to prom dresses. She was also an avid shopper and enjoyed reading mystery novels. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandson, Troy.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at the McConnellstown United Methodist Church, 11251 Ward St., Huntingdon, with the Michelle Price, pastor, officiating. Following the service, all are welcome to join the family for lunch and continued fellowship at the church. Interment will be handled at the convenience of the family in Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.

Arrangements are under the direction of the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in remembrance of Mrs. Stewart may be made to the McConnellstown United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 146, McConnellstown, PA 16660; or to Standing Stone VFW Auxiliary Post No. 1754, 520 Penn St., Huntingdon, PA 16652.
