Dolores Iva Hill, 85, of Lewisburg, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at Elmcroft in Lewisburg.
Dolores was born in Johnstown, Sept. 12, 1932, a daughter of the late Garnet and Lillian Eplett. Her paternal family had arrived on the ship Adventure, in Philadelphia on Oct. 22, 1727.
She graduated from Ferndale High School in Johnstown in 1950. She met her future husband, Milford Marlin Hill, when she was a student librarian at Ferndale High School. Dolores asked the red-headed senior for his address for the library card and he shot back with "You want my phone number, too?" On "Red's" return from the Mediterranean Sea on assignment with the US Marine Corps, his mother suggested he call the Eplett girl. The phone call led to their marriage that lasted 57 years until his death in 2007.
Dolores enjoyed creating floral arrangements, pressing flowers and was an avid reader. She was past treasurer of the Women's Auxiliary of USNEP Lewisburg, was a 46 year volunteer with Meals On Wheels, and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Dolores is survived by two sons, Lonnie Hill and his wife Linda, of Lewisburg and Barry Hill, of New Columbia; four grandsons, Justin Hill and his wife Anne, of Elizabethtown, Christopher Hill, of New Columbia, David Mullen, of Lewisburg and Brian Mullen and his wife Kathryn, of Landisville; and three great-granddaughters, Anna Mullen, Brynn Mullen and Aurora Hill.
Friends and relatives will be received Monday morning from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, to be followed by the funeral service at 11:30 with the Rev. John H. Shaw III officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
