Ada E. (Forthun) Handy, age 83 of Lynden, died at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden on Monday, Nov. 3, 2003.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 1:15 pm in Lakeside Cemetery followed by funeral services at 2 pm in the Chapel of Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden with Rev. Bill VandenBos officiating.
A lifetime county resident, Ada was the daughter of Robert A. and Maude (Rarick) Kirkman and was born in the VanBuren area on February 7, 1920. She was married to LeRoy Forthun in 1942 and following his death in 1962 was married to William Handy in October 1966.
A homemaker, Ada was a member of the Nooksack Valley Assembly of God Church and the Friendly Neighbor Club in the VanBuren area.
She was also preceded by her husband William Handy in 1980 great-granddaughter Tylee Altona sister Margaret Hinton and brother Herbert Kirkman.
Ada is survived by her son Mike Forthun and wife Joanne of Mt. Vernon stepsons Lee Handy and wife Lois of Everson, Roy Handy and wife Kimberly and Lyle Handy and wife Brenda of Springfield, MO. and Ross Handy and wife Becky of Ferndale sisters Florence Forthun of Everson and Elsie Kieneker of Camano Island and other relatives.
