Jody William Harris of Statesville died on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Jody was born in Iredell County on June 23, 1970 to Pattie Parks Harris and the late William Kent Harris.

He attended Statesville city schools. He was formerly employed with Geologic Exploration as a well driller until his health no longer allowed him to work.

On April 27, 2002 Jody married Tami Wolcott Harris and together they shared 16 years of marriage until his death.

Jody was a member of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church and had recently became a member of the Knights of the Columbus.

Jody was a man who loved life. He loved to laugh and also got enjoyment from making others laugh even at his expense. He was known as a jokester. Jody also loved God and his faith was demonstrated by his prayer for his fellow man. Nothing in life compared to the love he had for his family. He loved his wife, his sister, his mother but the love he had for his son Cody was unmatchable. It was the kind of love that only a father can have for his son. His nephew Wesson too shared that bond and love with Jody. In the words that defined the start and end of every phone conversion Jody had with people, “Watcha doin? and Luvyabye”.

Along with his father, Kent Harris, he was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Mary Hartling Wolcott.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Tami Harris and their son Cody Neil Harris, of the home, his mother, Pattie Parks Harris and his sister, Crystal Harris (Ray Sherrill) both of Statesville. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Josh Harris (Jessica) and their son Wesson, Jackson Sherrill, all of Statesville and Jackson and Bronwynn Wolcott of New York. He is further survived by his father-in-law Walter Wolcott, brother-in-law Daniel Wolcott (Brea) both of New York, aunts, Sandy Elder (Gene), June Gail Josey (Mark) and Diane Lambert (Randy), all of Statesville. Michael Lett (April), his lifelong best friend, special uncle Gordon Harris (Carolyn) along with a host of cousins and his K-9 companion Harley also survive.

A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday, September 10 at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Thomas Kessler officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Beau Josey, Patrick Patterson, Scotty Elder, Ryan Pierce, David Miller, Justin Gibson, Luke Davis and Jason Hubbard.

Memorials may be made to Forward with Christ Building Fund at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
