Lucille V. Cornelsen, 93, died on August 28, 2018, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler, Kansas. She was born in Newton on August 10, 1925 the daughter of Abram J. and Martha L. (Stelting) Voth. Lucille was raised in the Hillsboro community.

On July 18, 1947 Lucille married Edmer Cornelsen in Hillsboro, KS. He passed away on July 15, 1994.

Lucille held a church membership with the Bethany Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson. She was a longtime resident of the Hutchinson community.

Receiving her Bachelors of Arts in Education from Tabor College, Hillsboro Kansas, Lucille became an elementary teacher for the Nickerson USD #309 schools for 25 years. She entered retirement in 1988.

Lucille was an accomplished pianist and organist, sharing her talent at church and in the community. She also gave many piano lessons, even after she retired. Lucille was also a skilled seamstress and created exquisite needlework.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, a son, John and an infant brother, Homer.

Lucille is survived by a daughter, Helen Nicoli, Wichita; two sons and their wives, Ed (Linda) Cornelsen, Lubbock, TX and Paul (Susan) Shawnee,KS; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret ( Ed) Rysdyk Grand Rapids, Michigan and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Ruth) Voth, Grand Rapids, Michigan; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting guests from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bethany Church of The Nazarene, 408 N. Kent Rd., Hutchinson.

Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Bethany Church of The Nazarene or Kindred Hospice, in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel and Crematory at 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67502.
