John Morris was born in the Summer of 1804 between July 4 1804 to August 12, 1804 based on the research that I have found. The two areas that will need more research is Stanly County, N.C. including the parent County of Montgomery, N.C.; and Davidson County, N.C. including the parent County of Rowan, N.C. According to the research that I have done the father of John Morris is Etheldred Morris, and more research is required on Etheldred Morris. Additionally, research shows that John Morris was married to his wife Elizabeth "Bettie" New, and she was born ca 1814 in Virginia then she died between ca 1854 to 1860 in Stanly County, N.C. One legend that I have heard is that John Morris was a wealthy men, and had buried a gold treasure on his land some where. I wish that I had a Treasure Map of it's location if it is still there? According to the US Census Mortality Schedule it stated that John Morris died before August 8, 1879, and it was one year before the 1880 US Federal Census. The Mortality Schedule was clear that John Morris was a resident of the Harris Township, Stanly County, N.C., and that John Morris was by occupation a Farmer.
