Mrs. Payne died on January 9th, 2015 at Anderson Medical Center at Meridian, MS

Odelia was born on November 19, 1918 to Mollie Fuller Traxler and Joseph Silas Traxler of the Moore community, near Canton, TX. She graduated from Canton High School in 1937 and later moved to Dallas where she worked in the Sunshine Biscuit Company for 25 years. During the war, she worked the night shift packing (Type C) cookies/crackers to ship to the military overseas. She served as Sunday School teacher and worked in the BYPU at Colonial Baptist Church in Dallas.

She married J.C. Payne in 1964 and later moved with him to Denver, Colorado where they lived for 27 years. J.C. was employed by Frontier Airlines. While there, they were active in Ward Road Baptist Church in Arvada, Colorado as greeters.

Following retirement, the couple moved back to Texas in November, 1995, eventually settling in Tyler where they were members of Trinity Baptist Church.

J. C. died in May, 2007 and Odelia moved to Hattiesburg, MS at the end of the same year following a broken hip to be near good friends. She has many friends at Wesley Manor Retirement Home in Hattiesburg and will be greatly missed. She attended Main Street Baptist Church in Hattiesburg.

Odelia was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Grady and Leslie and sister, Lillian Wesson. She is survived by step son, Ronald Payne of Grand Prairie , Texas
