Evansville, IN - Robert Lee "Peter Gun" Elrod, 59, of Evansville, died September 2, 2018, at his residence. He was born December 15, 1958, in Evansville, IN to Betty Elrod and the late Herman Elrod. Robert was a member of the American legion post 44 in Newburgh. He worked as a contractor for several years with his brother and later worked for Mike Gourley concrete until currently. He loved to fish, collect, and garden. Robert was one of a kind and a prolific storyteller, generally a good guy.
Robert is survived by his sons, Casey (Amy) Elrod of Amsterdam, NY, Jacob (Emily) Elrod of Hagaman, NY, and Peter Lynn of Evansville, IN; daughter, Emilly Elrod of Amsterdam, NY; 4 grandchildren; lifelong partner of 26 years, Gianna Lynn of Evansville, IN; mother, Betty Elrod of Boonville, IN; brothers, Charles (Brenda) Elrod of Sebree, KY, Ron (Karen) Elrod of Henderson, CO, Gary (Jen) Elrod pf Summerville, GA, Larry (Lori) Elrod of Glenwood Springs, CO nad Herman Elrod of Evansville, IN; sister, Martha (Carl) Bruner of Evansville, IN. Robert is preceded in death by his father, Herman Elrod, and brother, Karl Elrod. Visitation will be Thursday, September 6, 2018, 4:00 pm -8:00 pm at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 First Ave. Evansville. Visitation will continue Friday, September 7, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home with services beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
