Jackie Dean “Jack” Parrish, age 73, of Marion, IL passed away suddenly at 1:36 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018, in Herrin Hospital of Herrin, IL.

He was born on Thursday, October 12, 1944, in Carbondale, IL the son of Elvis Dean and Mildred Faye (Burklow) Parrish.

Jack attended school in Goreville and was a graduate of Goreville High School.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Jean (Ray) Stamper on Saturday, December 10, 1994, in Portage, IN and together they have shared over 23 years of marriage.

His working career was with Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights, IL for 30 years as a Die Setter until his retirement in June of 1995 at the age of 50.

Jack was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle of Marion. He also was a member of Local Union No. 588 of Chicago Heights, IL.

In his spare time he enjoyed watching basketball having been an avid Chicago Bulls fan and following all of his grandchildren’s many activities. He loved the many times his family gathered together and cherished the many memories that were created.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley Jean Parrish of Marion; two children whom he loved and adored, daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Sue and Dave Cain of Valparaiso, IN; son and daughter-in-law, Marty Allen and Nancy Parrish of Beverly Hills, FL, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Denny and Alisa Parrish of Goreville, IL; two sisters-in-law, Donna Parrish and Thelma Parrish both of Phoenix, AZ; special nephew, Brian Parrish and his significant other, Jessica, of Marion; five step children whom he loved and treated as his own, Patricia Ann Vodrazka and her husband, Ben, of Scottsdale, AZ, Teresa Marie Blalock and her husband, Scott, of Hesperia, CA, Michelle Leanne Castellanos and her husband, Rick, of Marion and Stacey Jean Shell and her significant other, Robert Grable, of Huntington Beach, CA, and John David Renehan, Sr. and his wife, Denise, of Hobart, IN, twelve step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren who he also loved and treated as his own; father-in-law, Kenneth L. Ray and his wife, Sue, of Willard, MO; sister-in-law, Judith Elaine Ramel of Springfield, MO; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth David Ray of Elkland, MO and Lonnie Lloyd Ray and his wife, Sherry, of Marshfield, MO, other extended family, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sherry Durham; six brothers, Kenneth Deon Parrish, William Ray Parrish, Bobby Joe Parrish, Carl “Tubby” Parrish, Max Parrish, and John Wayne Parrish who passed away as a infant and step son, Jerome Henry Renehan, III.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
The time of visitation will be from 5:00.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7th, at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018, with Rev. John Burnett presiding.
Interment will follow in Cana Cemetery located of north of Goreville, IL.
