He graduated from Pasadena High School. He then attended Lon Morris Jr. College and pursued his political science degree at the University of Texas.
He was an American History teacher prior to working at Schlumberger Well Services for 27 years. He retired from Humble Machine Works in 2016.
He delighted in playing Santa Clause especially for his grandchildren. Tom was a voracious reader and loved gardening and tending to his flower beds.
He and his wife moved to Granbury, Texas from Friendswood in early July after 30 years in Friendswood. Tom was a good man, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and faithful friend.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Grossman, Jackson Grossman, Scot Cherry, Blair Cherry, Mike Adams, Brian Yates, and Brian Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marlin Cherry and Dean Cherry.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Vivian Cherry Farmer; daughter Mary Kate and husband, Bobby Grossman of Granbury, TX; grandchildren Molly and Jackson Grossman of Granbury, TX; aunt, Maggie Chappell of Baytown; brother’s in law: Marlin Cherry and wife, Sadie of Spring, and Dean Cherry and wife, Tommie of Nacogdoches, along with numerous nephews, nieces and other family and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, William “Jack” Farmer and mother, Beatrice Farmer, and sister, Wanda Farmer Carter.
