Myra Mae Wood went home to her Lord and Savior on September 3, 2018. She was born October 19, 1935 to Orville and Cynthia (Clark) Scott. She married Jack Ardene Wood on February 2, 1955 in Princeton, Mo.

They made their home in Adel in 1961 and raised 7 children. Myra was a homemaker for several years providing a loving and forgiving home to their children and all of their friends. She made the best beef & noodles you could ever taste. Myra was a faithful member of Maranatha Baptist church in Grimes and visited East Mesa Baptist church during the winter. Myra enjoyed being a snowbird in Apache Junction, AZ for many years where she was able to hike, do water aerobics, line dance and play cards with her many friends throughout the years. She was also a member of a camping group where they made lifelong friends. Even though camping has been behind her for many years, she still got together with the group once a month for breakfast.

Spiritual gifts come from the Holy Spirit and our mom was blessed with so many of them. Her dominant gifts were serving and faith. From a very young age her children saw her selfless acts of giving towards her parents, our great aunt & uncle and many friends and in our older years to our own brother who was severely injured in an accident. She spent countless hours attending doctor’s appointments, making meals, running errands and spending time visiting the hospital. Anything she could do to lessen the burden for someone else or brighten their day. Her gift of faith was one no one ever doubted. She had a strong and unshakeable confidence in God, His Word, His promises and the power of prayer. Myra was never shy to share her faith and wanted everyone to come to know Jesus as their Savior. Anyone who ever knew our Mom loved her kind and gentle nature. We were so blessed to have her as our Mom.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Marlea (Wayne) DePenning, Terry Wood, Jack Wood, Tina (Ronnie) Allen, Gail (Steve) Bauman, Rochelle (Sixto) Pavon, 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister; Mona Anderson, brother; Dwayne Scott and her beloved and spoiled constant companion Rusty. What a legacy our parents have left.
